#meteor shower to peak 11/18 (midnight-dawn) Follow these links to learn more #Astronomy @earthskyscience The famous Leonid meteor shower peaks between midnight and dawn on November 18. The morning before might be good, too. Here’s all you need to know to watch.
In 2015, the peak night of the shower is expected from midnight to dawn on Wednesday morning (November 18). Although this shower is known for its periodic storms, no Leonid storm is expected this year. The waxing moon will set in the evening hours, so moonlight will not obstruct this year’s Leonid shower. Also, it’ll be fun to look for the planet Jupiter, which shines in front of the constellation Leo this year. Watch for the Leonids on the mornings of November 17 and 18! The mornings before and after the peak might feature meteors as well, as we pass through the Leonid meteor stream in space. World War I – known at the time as “The Great War” - officially ended when the Treaty of Versailles was signed on June 28, 1919, in the Palace of Versailles outside the town of Versailles, France. However, fighting ceased seven months earlier when an armistice, or temporary cessation of hostilities, between the Allied nations and Germany went into effect on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month. For that reason, November 11, 1918, is generally regarded as the end of “the war to end all wars.” (Learn More)
Congratulations! @EagleRockElem ranks 7th across +700 @LASchools for Arts Programming @LATimes @LATeducation Our very own Eagle Rock Elementary not only received an "A" score but was tied for 7th in the district out of a total 507 elementary schools! Congratulations to our school community for all the hard work that has earned such recognition! A Los Angeles Times analysis that used L.A. Unified's data to assign letter grades to arts programs shows that only 35 out of more than 700 schools would get an "A." Those high-performing schools offered additional instruction through community donations, had more teachers and a greater variety of arts programs than most of the district's campuses. L.A.
