PTA Executive Board (Reflections Arts Chair)-Come join other parents & help make difference on our campus

Are you interested in the Arts?  The Eagle Rock Elementary PTA Executive Board is looking for a Reflections Arts Board member.  The position is responsible for coordinating our schools participation in this National program.  The Executive Board meets the first Tuesday of every month at 7pm.  ERE PTA has participated in this program for many years, however, in order to be a participating school we need to  identify a Board member as soon as possible.  If interested please email [email protected].

All students attending PTA schools sponsoring the program are invited to participate and submit original artwork in one of six areas:

• Dance/choreography
  
• Literature
  
• Photography
  
• Film production
  
• Music composition
  
• Visual arts.
  

Artworks are submitted first to school-level PTAs, where they are first recognized, celebrated and judged by five grade-level divisions, while a non-judged Special Artists division celebrates student artists with special needs. School PTAs then choose a selection of entries to be judged by local PTA units, which are then sent on to councils and then districts for consideration. The final artworks submitted to California State PTA by districts are then considered for Awards of Excellence or Awards of Merit. Award of Excellence entries then go on to represent California in the final National PTA judging round.

Eagle Rock Elementary Annual Halloween Festival is coming! Next Friday, October 30 from 3:00p - 5:00p in the school playground. Tickets are $1 and will be on sale before school Friday, October 23 -Thursday, October 29  and during the festival.  Food and games are $1-$5.

CicLAvia - Heart of LA will celebrate what has become a Los Angeles institution on October 18 from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a fifth-year anniversary route. CicLAvia began as an idea with an uncertain outcome when it first removed cars from the streets of downtown Los Angeles on October 10, 2010. Now, five years, fourteen events and hundreds of thousands of participants later, CicLAvia is the largest open streets event in North America.

Heart of LA will have six miles for participants to explore by bike, foot, skateboard, wheelchair and other non-motorized traffic. The route will take people through Boyle Heights, the Arts District, Little Tokyo, Civic Center, Chinatown, Historic Core and as far west as Macarthur Park.
