9/14/1814 | Francis Scott Key pens poem that later becomes our #NationalAnthem #AmericanHistory

Just over 200 years ago, on September 14, 1814, U.S. soldiers at Baltimore’s Fort McHenry raised a huge American flag to celebrate a crucial victory over British forces during the War of 1812. The sight of those “broad stripes and bright stars” inspired Francis Scott Key to write a song that eventually became the United States national anthem. Key’s words gave new significance to a national symbol and started a tradition through which generations of Americans have invested the flag with their own meanings and memories.

To join, complete the membership envelope sent home with your child with your member information, dues (cash or check payable to ERE PTA), and optional donation, and return it to your child’s teacher by Friday, September 18. 

Classes with the highest number of memberships in Kindergarten, First through Third Grades, and Fourth Through Sixth Grades will receive a popsicle party.

#EagleRockElem will be closed Fri (9/4) as #LASchools honor date when CA was admitted to USA

On Friday 9/4, Eagle Rock Elementary will be closed for a school holiday in observance of Admission Day which marks the day that our great state of California was admitted into the United States as the 31st state on Sept. 9, 1850. This is an official California state holiday.
