Hello Eagle Rock Families. Later this afternoon we here in Los Angeles will be treated to an Annular Eclipse of the Sun. Annular eclipses are different from total eclipses, where no "ring of fire" is visible.
A word of caution: Don't look at the sun directly during the eclipse! Experts say it's possible to cause permanent damage to eyesight. Click here to learn how to make a simple pinhole projector to view the eclipse, and NASA also recommends using binoculars to project the eclipse on a white card. The eclipse should be visible unless fog rolls in early Sunday night. This will be an historic opportunity to witness one of these celestial spectacles of which Los Angeles will not have another until the year 2071! NASA is predicting 85% coverage here in greater Los Angeles! Start of Partial Eclipse: 5:24p Max Eclipse: 6:38p End Partial Eclipse: 7:42p http://eclipse.gsfc.nasa.gov/SEmono/ASE2012/ASE2012.html The 2012 American Cancer Society’s #RelayForLife is finally here! 24h Relay starts today at 9:00a.
