We’d like to announce that our 6th Graders have kicked-off their Annual Thanksgiving Food Drive for this Holiday Season. Please show your support by sending donations of food to your child’s classroom where it will be collected to later be distributed to our local Food Bank to assist those members of our community in need.
Donations will be accepted now through next Wednesday, November 23, 2011. Thank you so much! We'd like to extend a great big thank you to all of our families and friends who came out in support of Eagle Rock Elementary this evening during our Shop for Schools Night!
I especially want to thank our parent and student volunteers who were a great big help bagging groceries, manning the table outside for the drawing and donated receipts and our "runners" who took the donated receipts to our collection box outside! Thanks for all of your support and enjoy your Veterans Day Holiday! Please remember to take a moment and acknowledge our men and women in uniform especially as we begin this holiday season! This Thursday, November 10, 2011 from 4:00p until 8:00p is the Eagle Rock Elementary Fresh & Easy Shopping Night at their location on Eagle Rock Blvd and El Paso Dr! So please be sure to stop by and stock up on your weekly groceries and why not prepare for the upcoming Thanksgiving Holiday all the while helping out Eagle Rock Elementary!
Did you know that last year Eagle Rock Elementary was close to being the highest-grossing school in California, which would have entitled us to a $5000 bonus from Fresh & Easy? Did you also know that our school earns $1 for every $20 Fresh & Easy receipt collected now through December 31? So be sure to save your receipts and drop them off at the Parent Center. Please tell your family and friends about our special Shopping Night at Fresh & Easy and together we can make Eagle Rock Elementary the highest grossing school this year! Thanks for your continued support! Daylight Savings Time (DST) ends tomorrow, Sunday, November 6, 2011 so please remember to move your clocks back one hour!
You rally our parents, staff and the public and project one of the strongest voices with a simultaneous phone, fax, and web campaign, that's how! Shock and Awe indeed!
Thanks to all of our amazing parents, teachers, staff and all others who helped get what may be one of the swiftest responses from LAUSD. In case you haven't already noticed, the LAUSD delivered (3) Girls and (3) Boys portable toilets yesterday not long after lunch. These portables will serve as a temporary solution while our permanent children's bathrooms near the lunch pavilion and in the west wing are still undergoing repairs. It was through your persistence and passion that yielded this wonderful example of truly working as a community and using all of our available resources to get some action on a long outstanding campus issue. Here's to all of you...Great work everyone!!! Below is the response received from Board District 5: Hi All, This morning, our office received numerous phone calls regarding a situation with bathrooms at Eagle Rock Elementary School (ERES). Our staff member Juan De La Cruz followed up immediately with our facilities department and 3 male and 3 female portable restrooms have been allocated to ERES and should be there by the close of business today. These portable restrooms will be cleaned on a daily basis to ensure cleanliness and safety. Furthermore, I have gone to ERES today and followed up with Dr. Posada about the current situation and some long term solutions regarding bathrooms. The bathrooms near the lunch shelter that are currently under construction will be functional by next Wednesday (11-9-11). Our office would like to thank all the parents, community members, District staff, and ERES staff that have assisted with mitigating this situation. Lastly, our office is aware of the custodial concerns in terms of maintaining the cleanliness of all the bathrooms at ERES and of the delay in the lunch shelter project. Our office will continue to work with our facilities department to find permanent solutions to all the concerns above. If anyone has any questions, please feel free to contact our office at (213) 241-5555. Board District 5 David Estrada Board Member Bennett Kayser’s Office How do 1,000 #EagleRock Elementary students manage with 5 toilets, 2 urinals & 4 sinks? Once again, please mention this to any other parents that would be interested in lending us a hand and we hope to see you there. Bring your calculators and we'll supply the coffee! :) We would like to thank all of you for making this year's Halloween Festival a success! We had a fanstatic turnout as many of your kids didn't want to leave when we wrapped up for the afternoon. We had a great variety of costumes this year which made the judging difficult and we appreciated everyone's participation.
Thank you parents for helping your teachers with their booths. What a great variety of food, games and other activities and we were excited to hear that there were a number of booths that needed to "restock" after they sold out their first round! Way to go!
